HO HO HO-HOLIDAYS!

IT’S CHRISTMASSSSSS! I can’t believe that it is the Christmas holidays already, it feels like we have only just opened the first door of our advent calendars!

On Monday, we all transformed into little elves for our Elf Run. Thank you so much for bringing in your sponsorship forms to school – you are all so incredibly generous! The money that has been raised will be going to an incredible cause, the Phyllis Tuckwell hospice.

On Tuesday, the children had a wonderful time at the Fleet pantomime. The day was filled with lots of clapping, booing and shouting “it’s behind you!”. All of the staff were incredibly proud of the children, as they were all so sensible and represented Tavistock amazingly.

A BIG thank you to TAFF for organising the Elfridges Christmas Shop this week! It takes SO much time and organising and we are all very appreciative. The children absolutely loved choosing presents for their friends and family.

This week, the children have been busy making Christmas cards. They have shown great resilience whilst sewing their beautiful Christmas designs. It only ended in a few tangles and knots…! The children also designed and made some sparkly clay baubles to hang on their trees at home.

What an amazing first term in Year 2 we have had! We are all incredibly proud of how well the children have settled into the new school year and what an amazing example they all set for the younger year groups. Next term, we are saying goodbye to our topic The Great Fire of London and welcoming a new one…!

Lastly, I just wanted to thank you on behalf of all of the teachers and staff in Year 2 for your generosity. We have been overwhelmed by the lovely Christmas gifts that we have received this week. I hope you all have a wonderful Christmas and New Year and make sure you have lots of fun (and rest too!). Don’t forget to keep reading and to keep practising your spellings! Even if it is reading Christmas stories and writing on the back of scrunched up wrapping paper!

Looking forward to seeing you all after the holidays,

Miss Heafford and the Year 2 team
