Bursting with pride!

What a week we’ve had! All of the Year 2 staff are incredibly proud of the Christmas performances that the children have put on this week. Every single one of the children tried their best, they smiled from ear to ear and no one even fell off the stage – phew! Thank you so, SO much to everyone who came to support and watch the shows. Each classes performance will be put up onto Google Classroom on the class page by next week.

It was Christmas Jumper Day on Friday! It was wonderful to see so many bright colours, sequins and festive designs. It made us all get into the festive spirit – ho ho ho! Christmas really is just around the corner… eek!

A BIG thank you to TAFF for organising a brilliant Christmas movie night after school on Friday! The children absolutely loved it!

In our English lessons, the children have had their last ‘big write’ before the Christmas holidays. They have been writing their own book review for The Highway Rat by Julia Donaldson. The children needed to include a character description, a summary and a recommendation.

In our maths lessons, the children have been using unstructured number lines to subtract a single-digit number from a double-digit number. This has required them to use their knowledge of ‘bridging to the nearest 10’ to help them to work out the answer. This method really emphasised the importance of being fluent with number bonds to 10, as we apply them to larger numbers too. Please keep practising these at home! The children also needed to find the previous multiple of 10, for example, the previous multiple of 10 from 45 is 40.

One week to go… and what a busy one it will be! We are starting the week with the Elf Run which raises money for Phyllis Tuckwell hospices. Thank you to everyone who has brought in sponsorship forms so far and we can’t wait to transform into little elves… there might even be a special visitor!

On Tuesday, we are going to the Pantomime! So get ready for lots of singing and giggles!

Things to remember:

  • Bring a sensible water bottle as you will be carrying it all the way to the Harlington Centre and back!
  • Be on time!
  • Bring a warm coat!

Have a lovely festive weekend! See you next week for the last week before the holidays!
