Performing Super Stars!

WOW the children have blown us away with their performances this week! They all looked so gorgeous up on the stage and so proud of themselves. Thank you all for your help in regards to their costumes and turning up to support your child. These little things mean so much to them. We are all very proud of them.

This week, we have been continuing to focus on our sentence writing but using Christmas pictures to inspire the children. Their writing has improved vastly this term and we are really pleased with the children. In maths this week, we have looked at a variety of 2D shapes and discuss the different properties of each one. We made comparisons about different 2D shapes by looking at their properties. Then, we used 2D shapes and irregular shapes to create a picture. After that, we learnt about 3D shapes and their properties. We created our own 3D compound shapes using all we have learnt. What a shapetastic week we have had!

Next week, Christmas will be in full flow. We will start the week with our Elf Run on Monday followed by our visit to the Pantomime on Tuesday. We will be busy making Christmas cards, calendars as well as learning about the Christmas story. I am sure we will have time for some Christmas party games in there somewhere! The children are very ready for a break from school and will welcome the rest with open arms!

Just a few reminders:

  • Please make sure all your child’s belongings are labelled. Things do go missing and I’m convinced there is a black hole somewhere in the school that sucks them in and they never come back.
  • Please send your child’s water bottle and book bag into school every day.
  • Our Year 1 PE day is on a Monday.
  • Reading books in school are changed once a week and this will be every Monday. The books will be collected in in the morning and a new one will be issued that same afternoon.
  • Library books are changed on a Friday during our library time. The children are also welcome to change their books during lunchtimes when the library is open.
