Science Week

It has been another very exciting week in Year R!  This week is British Science Week and we are focusing on time.

The children have explored what time is and what we use to tell the time.  Following on from our exciting egg/chick visit the children created their own ‘Lifecycle of a Chicken’ poster to begin the week.

In the outdoor area there have been races on scooters and bikes, recording how many laps that can be done in 30 seconds or in a minute.

The children have taken part in experiments including exploring what is inside an apple and what might happen to the core over time.  They have also done shadow experiments and explored changes they may have seen outside.

What a fabulous week it has been.

In PE the children are continuing to learn the five basic shapes in gymnastics and this week had a go at putting three of the shapes together to make a sequence. If you ask your child they should be able to tell you that the shapes they have learnt are: tuck shape, pike shape, straddle shape, straight shape and star shape.

Polite reminder:  Please can you make sure that your child’s PE kit is in school as we are a little low on PE kits.  The children are doing so very well at getting themselves changed independently and this is an important part of the lesson.

Many thanks
