So lovely to feel the sun on our faces!

I don’t want to tempt fate but I think we may have waved goodbye to winter, hurrah! I actually wore my gilet to school so that’s saying something.

Another lovely week in Year 2 has just ended. In English we were working on skills. Choosing the correct homophone, there, their and they’re is an important skill to master in writing as are contractions. We had fun making sure our apostrophes were in the right place because if they are not , it is considered a spelling mistake… Some children also worked on prefixes and learned what the prefix un and dis does to a word and used them in sentences. We do English skills weeks two or three times a year and they are always very useful and good fun.

In maths we revisited multiplication, using arrays and numberlines, this ties in perfectly with learning times tables so the children have a very good understanding of this concept. We also started division this week and will continue next week with looking at remainders.

All three classes are very busy finishing up various topic work before the end of term and we finally got to paint our dinosaur feet. We experimented with texture by adding various natural ingredients to the paint and the finished results look amazing. The feet are big and take up a lot of room in class but they are still not to scale!

We must say a huge thank you to everyone who donated a prize for the Summer Fayre tombola on Friday. TAFF work so hard for us and the work they did sprucing up the school garden was amazing, so a massive thank you TAFF, we truly appreciate everything that you do. At the end of term next week, they are running a yummy tuck shop after school so remember to bring some pennies at home time if you fancy a little treat.

Things to remember:

Book change on Monday – please make sure books and diaries are in.

Spelling test on Monday.

Look at my book sessions are on Tuesday and Wednesday after school from 330 for an hour. This is for you to look at your child’s books with them. It is NOT and appointment to discuss your child’s progress with your teacher but to enjoy your child’s work and they can tell you all about their learning.

We break up on Thursday, as Friday is Good Friday!

I think that’s it for now.

Have a great weekend.

The Year 2 Team.
