Another week has flown by and half-term is in sight. It is hard to believe that our new children have almost completed their first weeks in school. They are experts at all the routines now and boy do they love their food. There are very few children who won't give the food a go and if we are concerned that they aren't eating enough, we do let you know. Fishy Friday is always the best day for clean plates, but the jacket potato children are a close second.
Our Year R children attended their first Harvest Festival this week and seemed to thoroughly enjoy my off-key singing and the interactive story about the friends who wouldn't help Mrs Hen to bake the bread. Everyone agreed that cat, dog and duck should have helped, but we weren't sure if Mrs Hen should have been more magnanimous and let them share the bread or not. Quite a dilemma and the children could argue the case for both the defence and the accused. Would you share if someone hadn't helped, or would it serve them right if they didn't get a share?
We were chatting in the staffroom at lunchtime today about how the majority of children at Tavistock are so empathetic even though they are only 4–7 years old. We teach and support the children to make the right choices. One of the wise phrases I often use is that 'no-one is perfect, they just think they are', so we know that occasionally a wrong choice slips in. The children are always so supportive and forgiving of their peers which is wonderful because no-one ever gets left out. There is so much to learn in life isn't there.
Right, Mr O is making a wonderful choice this Saturday and is off out for the day so I will have the house to myself! Of course I will be delighted when he returns, but it is always nice to have a break.

Have a lovely weekend and see you on Monday.
