Headteacher's Blog

Friday 7th November 2025

What a lovely first week back we have all had. The lighter mornings certainly help with my early journey into school and I do like the dark evenings when I can just close the curtains and shut the world out. I also really enjoy cooking 'winter' food because that means lots of one-pot meals and homemade soup. Mr O thoroughly enjoyed the carrot thing I made for dinner last night. What a pity it was sweet potato and lentil curry and there wasn't a carrot in sight. He hasn't got the most sophisticated palate, but never mind because he never wastes food.

This was my first half term as grandma to little Fred who is now six weeks old and weighs the grand total of 5.36kg and his head circumference is 41cm. I was very proud indeed and then said is 41cms big for a head? Eleanor googled it and apparently it is big, but he is still our little Fred. The fact he is being wheeled around in a wheelbarrow he is so big is beside the point. I know you are all far too young to be even thinking about this, but it is the most incredible thing watching your own child being a parent. Eleanor really has the patience of a saint, and she said she has only laid on the floor crying once because Fred was crying so long and loud which isn't bad going for six weeks of being a mum is it. I am very proud of her too, even though she hasn't got a big head.

If you have a child in the Year 2 Christmas choir I am sure you are already enjoying listening to Christmas songs. We have to be ready for Fleet Festivities on 26th November which is why we have had to start so early. Please don't feel left out because before you know it every class will be singing festive songs and children will be cast as third sheep to the left. I absolutely love all the Christmas plays and I know you will too. I always want to be Mary but it has never happened...yet.

Right, have a marvellous weekend. Try to get out in the fresh air, come along to the TAFF Tidy Up if you can, and be kind to yourself.
