Headteacher's Blog

7th May 2026

It is very quiet in school today because the Year 2 children have gone on their last school trip whilst they are at Tavistock. The weather couldn't be better and the teachers packed the magic newspaper just in case anyone feels sick. It really works if you sit a child on a newspaper they are never sick. It is better to be a broadsheet rather than a tabloid though.

I was chatting to the parents who were going along to help this morning, and I was also laughing with one of our faithful mums who has gone on every trip but has got a job now so she couldn't go this time! She was so sweet and apologised but I said she had served us well. As always, thank you so much to everyone who helps with school trips and walks to the swimming pool. You do need to be DBS checked to help and obviously we can't fit everyone on the coaches, but we really appreciate the help.

I am looking forward to the TAFF Fair on the 16th May from 12-2pm and if you can help, or come along, or even help and come along, that would be marvellous. I am repeating myself, but all the extra money that is raised brings extra money for the school. Everything costs so much these days as we all know. All our budgets are stretched so we are so grateful to TAFF for organising events and everyone for coming along. I am usually First Aid but if no-one takes a tumble I can just waft around smiling and eating a sausage or burger. I wonder if they will do onions?

Right, they are on the way back now in time for the end of the school day. Mrs Gadd said she is wearing the crown jewels and has a corgi in her bag so clearly a good time has been had by one and all!
