SUMMER TERM
We sing a song called ‘We’re Here Again’ and we certainly are here again for the last term of the school year. Time flies when you are having fun and it certainly is flying. I know we won’t have pleased all the people all the time but we will keep trying to make sure we have a wonderful relationship with our community and do our utmost to educate your children. We can’t do it on our own though so please keep supporting your child at home and talk to us if something is bothering you. If we put our heads together we can always find a solution.
The summer term always feels even busier than ever because we take the children swimming, KS1 have tennis lessons, classes go on school trips and of course everyone is getting ready to move on just to name a few things. In our assemblies next week we will be talking about how some things are different this term but how so much is exactly the same. We will still treat each other with respect and make the right choices as often as we can. We will show tolerance and understanding towards others and just be kind. Our attitude to learning anything new will be one where we know that our brains might hurt a little bit or we think we will never get there but we will never give up!
We are starting to have lots of little visitors arriving with paperwork ready for starting school in September. They look so tiny but I do recognise a large number of them because I see them going off the pre-school or passing by with siblings. Due to falling numbers in the Fleet area we do have spaces so if you know of anyone with a child starting in September give them a prod in our direction because they can still change their mind and come to Tavistock.
I think they may have said on Meridian News last night that we have a little heatwave coming. Our good old British weather is the gift that keeps on giving isn’t it. It was glorious for the first week of the holidays then even I succumbed to having the heating on for 5 minutes in the evening. Mr O had turned blue and had so many extra layers on it was irritating me so I showed a bit of kindness towards him. I should practise what I preach shouldn’t I! If it is going to be hot he can have my tights and the heating can go back off. Please don’t forget sunscreen, wellies, coats, hats and parasols next week because we just never know.
We have a number of TAFF events coming up this term and over Easter we had new bark in the playground as well as two new picnic tables. We have a lovely wooden caravan on order that should be here soon. Please support TAFF because they are amazing and they provide additional funds that school really needs. Our children are so lucky and looking out of the window at lunchtime today they were having such fun with our lunchtime equipment. It is amazing how high a small child can throw a hoola hoop and miss another small child when it comes back down to earth. We also had our new mini basket ball stand out at lunchtime this week and it was a great hit…until today. I blame the beans for lunch because it all got a bit wild and one of the lovely lunchtime supervisors issued red cards and then marched the stand back into the hall. On the plus side though the ball hasn’t gone over the fence and we will try again next week. Onwards and upwards and all that.
Right, whatever you do this weekend take care of yourselves and each other.
