Sunshine
We hope you have enjoyed the wonderful sunny weather this week! The children have really enjoyed experiencing their playtimes out in the sunshine and not having to take their coats out with them. Thank you for sending in water bottles and hats to help keep your children safe in the sun. Let’s hope this weather continues for the rest of the summer term!!
This week we have been delving more into Claude Monet’s garden. The artwork the children have produced of Monet’s Japanese bridge is absolutely amazing. You can look forward to them bringing it home at the end of the summer term.
In Maths, we have been introduced to division. We started by practising sharing out different amounts of cubes between 2 children. We shared the cubes out one at a time and counted how many each child had to find the answer. Next, we practised sharing out the cubes between 5 children. We also learnt how to solve problems by grouping and we counted how many groups there are in different numbers. We also looked at the division sign.
In our English lessons this week, we continued to use The Magical Garden of Claude Monet to act as a stimulus. In our first session, we wrote a descriptive piece of writing about a picture from the book. We used powerful adjectives to describe the picture and used the suffixes –er and –est to compare different things in the garden. After that, we planned and wrote a letter to Julie from the story to advise her how to stay safe when exploring the garden. Next week we will move on to our big write when we write to Claude Monet himself!
