Knights Wanted!
I’m sure that title caught your eye… the Year 2’s have been busy using titles like these for their BIG write – a job advert for a knight. They had to think carefully about the jobs a knight would need to do and the qualities a good knight should have. We had some fantastic ideas, from “must be brave and strong” to “able to ride a horse and rescue villagers.” It was a super opportunity for the children to use persuasive language and showcase all the writing skills they’ve been working on this term. They definitely wowed us with their beautiful handwriting!
At the beginning of the week, Year 2 went for their second swimming lesson. It is definitely one of my favourite points of the year as the children always have the biggest smiles when they get into the pool. It’s lovely to see their determination and resilience as they try new skills – and my trousers were only a little bit soggy by the end of the lesson!
In Maths, we have been working on subtracting a 2-digit number from another 2-digit number, with a focus on bridging across multiples of ten. This can be a tricky concept, but the children have shown real perseverance. They’re beginning to understand how to partition numbers to help them subtract more efficiently, and we’ve seen lots of ‘lightbulb moments’ during our lessons. Ding!
On Friday, we had a lovely event set up by our amazing TAFF team in Dormouse Nest– a special Father’s Day sale! The children loved picking out thoughtful gifts for someone special. A huge thank you to everyone who helped make it happen!
We also had a sneaky tennis lesson on Friday because the lovely Jamie made up for missing a session the week before. There are definitely less tennis balls over the fence compared to our first session, that’s for sure!
One last thing… I can’t believe I am saying this but leavers assembly practice has started arghhhh! How are we at this point in the summer term already…?
As always, thank you for your continued support. Fingers crossed we’ll have a bit more sunshine!
Have a restful and sunny weekend,
The Year 2 Team
